"While time flows as normal, time here has ground to a halt due to the strike, leaving everything unresolved.

On 17 June 1497, this very site, Deptford Bridge, saw the Cornish rebels rise against the King's army in protest against excessive war taxes. However, the monument commemorating this battle stands not at the actual site of fierce clash, but on Blackheath Common. Choosing to memorialise the site where the rebellion was suppressed and institutional control restored reveals the institution's deliberate intent.

My practice explores Weltschmerz, or world-pain, born of the contradictions of modern systems. It treats this sorrow not as a path to destruction or resignation, but as a Site of enduring coexistence. By bringing people face to face with presence within physical space, it seeks to recover a common world fragmented and lost in the abstraction of the digital. It is a search for ways of living together, and an attempt to make the question “And yet, how do we live together?” a collective one.
